Family internet rules that actually hold

Every parent who has tried app-based controls has had the same week: the rule works, then it quietly stops working, and nobody can say when.

The rule is only as strong as where it lives

A control installed on a device is a setting on that device. It can be uninstalled, logged out of, or simply avoided by picking up a different device. None of that requires expertise. It requires being twelve and mildly motivated.

A rule applied where the internet enters the house does not have that weakness. It is not a setting on the tablet, so changing settings on the tablet does not reach it.

Why cloud filtering sees less than you think

Filtering that runs outside the house sees one address for the whole household. From out there, a child's tablet and a parent's work laptop are the same thing, because they arrive looking identical. That is why household filters tend to be either too strict for the adults or too loose for the children: they are being asked to make a per-person decision with no per-person information.

What per-person actually gives you

  • A profile that belongs to the person, not the gadget, so it applies to whatever they pick up.
  • Bedtime and study hours that hold, because they are enforced at the line rather than requested of the device.
  • A pause that works on one person, or the whole house, without an argument about it.
  • An alert when a device nobody recognises joins, and one tap to remove it.

The things that cannot protect themselves

A house now contains a lot of devices that cannot run any protective software at all: the television, the camera, the speaker, the plug. Protection installed on phones does nothing for any of them. Protection at the gateway covers everything that joins through it, including the things nobody thinks of as computers.

That is what EWUS HomeShield is: profiles per person, schedules enforced at the line, one-tap pause, unknown-device alerts, and malware and scam destinations blocked before they reach anyone's screen.

Where EWUS actually is. The gateway described here is pre-certification: there is no stock, no pre-orders and no availability date, and nothing on this site is a photograph of finished hardware. What is described is what ewusOS is built to do. If it fits a problem you have, the waiting list is the only thing on offer today.
